Oink Oink

I visited Sunshower Hill Farm in Newberg in January and was excited to hear about the cherries and meet all the animals. At that time Ranee Solmonsson told us that she would be getting some hogs to raise.  DSC_0011

We stopped in recently and sure enough there were four Hereford hogs enjoying rooting around last summer’s garden area. Ranee selected to raise Herefords because the heritage breed has a great personality and I can attest to that. They ran to the fence when I approached, ready for a scratch.  DSC_0010

More importantly for the people who arrange a share, they provide flavorful meat with some fat or lard as well.  Currently all but one hog is reserved but one whole hog or two half-hogs are available.  Meat will be ready in May.  Contact Sunshower Hill Farm for more information.
